BACH, Handel & Finzi
The concert program is an exciting blend of classic and contemporary. Bach's Sinfonia from the Easter Oratorio opens the event, followed by Handel's majestic Sonata in F major "Fitzwilliam". Schumann's challenging Canonic Etudes offers complexity, before returning to Bach with the vibrant Concerto for Violin and Oboe in D minor.
The second half showcases the subtlety of the oboe, beginning with Finzi's serene Interlude for oboe and piano. Richardson's playful Roundelay lightens the mood, before culminating with Morricone's iconic Gabriel's Oboe, a piece celebrated for its evocative beauty, thus closing the night on a high cinematic note.
