Paul Turner is an Honours graduate and an elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music where his many prizes and awards culminated in the Queen’s Commendation for Excellence and the Peter Pears Accompaniment Prize. An experienced recitalist he has appeared at London’s leading venues and major UK festivals. He has given concerts in Europe and South America and worked with eminent singers and instrumentalists.

Michael Bochmann, MBE, is an internationally acclaimed British violinist and conductor, founder and Artistic Director of the Lenthall Concerts. Educated at Burford School he went on to study violin at the Royal Academy of Music. He was a participating pupil on Menuhin’s Master classes on BBC2 TV. In February 1990 Michael partnered Sir Yehudi Menuhin in the Bach Double Violin Concerto in a most successful tour of 16 concerts throughout the USA and Canada. He formed the Bochmann Quartet in 1977 with which he made over 50 broadcasts within their first 10 years. During this period, he also performed with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields directed by Neville Marriner and the English Chamber Orchestra. He directed the English String Orchestra until 2016. He is very active as a teacher and is Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Trinitylaban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

Carol Hubel-Allen received her musical training at the Royal Academy of Music in London. After a spell with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra she joined the Pfeifer String Quartet in Stuttgart, touring extensively throughout Europe, During an extended stay in the US, she became a member of the Princeton Chamber Orchestra and the Chanterelle String Quartet. More recently, she joined the Dehler String Quartet of the Staatskapelle, Weimar. Carol holds several awards from the Royal Academy of Music and the Colmar International String Quartet Competition in France, and she has made numerous radio and TV recordings and discs.

Nicola Tait Baxter is one of our foremost cellists. Her great love of the instrument led her to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, winning first prizes for solo and chamber music and graduating with first class honours; further studies and a scholarship took her studies to Germany and Brussels. In demand as a soloist and chamber musician these days, her repertoire includes most of the major ‘cello concertos; she has performed all six solo suites by Bach in festivals in Scotland, England and Germany and has appeared as a soloist in Switzerland and the USA.

The Venue

All the 2023-24 concerts take place at Burford School, the venue provides an intimate, welcoming atmosphere, unusual at concerts of this calibre. Tea, coffee and drinks are served in the interval and there is plenty of parking available.
