David Campbell is internationally respected as a fine clarinetist and teacher.After spending eleven years in Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ chamber ensemble, ‘The Fires of London’ as well as playing regularly with the London Sinfonietta, London Mozart Players and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, David has more recently forged a career centred around solo repertoire and chamber music. His playing has taken him to over forty countries to work with as a soloist with leading orchestras and playing with string quartets and larger ensembles.

Carol Hubel-Allen received her musical training at the Royal Academy of Music in London. After a spell with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra she joined the Pfeifer String Quartet in Stuttgart, touring extensively throughout Europe, During an extended stay in the US, she became a member of the Princeton Chamber Orchestra and the Chanterelle String Quartet. More recently, she joined the Dehler String Quartet of the Staatskapelle, Weimar. Carol holds several awards from the Royal Academy of Music and the Colmar International String Quartet Competition in France, and she has made numerous radio and TV recordings and discs.

Nicola Tait Baxter

Nicola Tait Baxter is one of our foremost cellists. Her great love of the instrument led her to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, winning first prizes for solo and chamber music and graduating with first class honours; further studies and a scholarship took her studies to Germany and Brussels. In demand as a soloist and chamber musician these days, her repertoire includes most of the major ‘cello concertos; she has performed all six solo suites by Bach in festivals in Scotland, England and Germany and has appeared as a soloist in Switzerland and the USA.

Ruth Schulten studied at Trinity College, Cambridge before taking postgraduate studies with David Takeno at the Guildhall school of Music. Ruth went on to win the English Speaking Union scholarship to attend Tanglewood Music Center USA where she studied with the Juilliard Quartet and then an Emily English award and KPMG Martin Scholarship to complete her studies in Holland. Ruth held a first violin position with the BBC Symphony Orchestra for 15 years, and is now in demand as a freelancer with various London orchestras, having been invited to play as Guest Principal 2nd violin for the Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra and English National Opera. A very keen chamber musician, Ruth is the violinist of the Roskell piano trio, ensemble in residence at the historic Sutton House in London. Other collaborations have included concerts at the Plush music festival, and a piano quintet recital on BBC radio 3 with colleagues from the BBC Symphony Orchestra.Ruth recently appeared as soloist in Beethoven’s violin concerto with the Chiltern Camerata, and is looking forward to a further concert with them, and Nicky Tait Baxter later this year as soloists in Brahms Double Concerto.

Michael Bochmann, MBE, is an internationally acclaimed British violinist and conductor, founder and Artistic Director of the Lenthall Concerts. Educated at Burford School he went on to study violin at the Royal Academy of Music. He was a participating pupil on Menuhin’s Master classes on BBC2 TV. In February 1990 Michael partnered Sir Yehudi Menuhin in the Bach Double Violin Concerto in a most successful tour of 16 concerts throughout the USA and Canada. He formed the Bochmann Quartet in 1977 with which he made over 50 broadcasts within their first 10 years. During this period, he also performed with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields directed by Neville Marriner and the English Chamber Orchestra. He directed the English String Orchestra until 2016. He is very active as a teacher and is Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Trinitylaban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

The Venue

All the concerts take place at Burford School, the venue provides an intimate, welcoming atmosphere, unusual at concerts of this calibre. Tea, coffee and drinks are served in the interval and there is plenty of parking available.
